Joseph Woolridge is a native New Yorker, artist, serial entrepreneur, and the Founder of New York Studio Factory.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Joseph started NYSF in 2000 while attending The Cooper Union on a Full Tuition Scholarship for Painting. The first NYSF location opened in South Williamsburg that year. Over twenty-five years, NYSF has developed and operated multiple locations across Brooklyn and Queens — South Williamsburg, LIC, North Williamsburg, Bushwick, and now Sunset Park.
NYSF's mission has stayed the same the whole time: "We build communities so small businesses can Create, Connect, and Grow."
The current location is sixty studios in Sunset Park, Brooklyn — sound-isolated, with a design language Joseph develops himself, for independent professional creatives. The community working inside the building includes hair stylists, lash techs, makeup artists, estheticians, massage therapists, photographers, content creators, audio engineers, producers, and designers.
Joseph is also the Founder of PRYM Builders Group, a NYC design-build firm specializing in creative commercial real estate repositioning. The two companies share a thesis: "small businesses need real space, real structure, and real ownership of their work."
